2 diffrent tortoises!!!

hello every 1 i am new on this site well i have a herman tortoise and have recently bought a horsfield tortoise female 2 yrs old i dont let them live together and the only time they r together is when they r in the house down stairs roaming about but i heard someting about a disease is this true and if i keep them as i am now will they be ok as not much contact is made as if i put them together me herman trys to headbutt her any way a mating thing i no also can they cross breed in.The pen in the garden i have seperated it with a fence and the herman was trying to ram at her threw the fence is it mating season and why does the herman do this when outside?? thanx

they shouldn't be together at all. You need a barrier between the pens. If they can see each other its about the same as keeping them together

i have made it so they can not see thanx they dont no that its a barrier i think why cant they even see each other?? in the house they dont go near each other it is only when they touch then he trys it on if u no what i mean ??

also can they cross breed and will they be fertile if they did wud it work?i no no its not to be sugested but i wornder if it will work i no a man who breeded a herman and a lepord is this ok or wrong?

by letting them roam the same area you risk cross contamination even if they don't touch

And no they won't cross bred

cheers for that i have sorted me pen out and am gona keep them away from each other from now on when down stairs 1 in kitchen and 1 in living room
