Joe is right.  My captive breed was $260.  You DO get what you pay for.  You shouldn't really have a limit of how much you can get a tortoise for, cos you will end up paying that many times more for vet visits and whatnot if you get a "cheap" tortoise from say... Petco.

I got my tort from PetCo and he has been great. I'm not saying I would buy another from there, I'm just saying that not EVERYTHING that comes from a pet store is a bad thing.
And I know you get what you pay for, but I just bought a house in CA and I cnt really afford to drop 260.00 on another tort right now.

i bought one of mine at peco and he did fine was not sick and stuffbut he got out of his outside cage and was not able to fine hi  :'(

I'm still looking for a buddy or two for my tort... anyone have any right now? Hatchlings or otherwise, as long as they are happy and healthy!  :)
