? Soaking outdoor torts
« on: March 27, 2009, 06:19:00 PM »
Hi,
I was wondering, if my torts go into their water dish themselves when they are outside ... should I still soak them too.  Or is it enough if they are soaking on their own.  For example, today Squirtle was 75% in the water for probably 40 to 60 minutes up to the bottom of her shell, she just had the legs on one side out and her head resting out.  It's one of those fake rock tort pools, with the sides that are made to be easy to walk in and out of.  Blue Fellow goes in more often, but for shorter periods at a time.  He probably goes in every day, 2 or 3 times a day or every other day for a few minutes.  I know when he goes in because he muddies up the water going in and out.  Squirtle is more tidy because she just goes in, wallows for a while and then is done for a few days.
I'm guessing they are getting enough soaking in while they are outside for now, but maybe in the summer when it's really hot they might need more.

I don't soak mine at all when they are outside.

If its really hot and dry, I run the sprinkler.
