Thawed Veggies
« on: October 18, 2006, 05:04:42 AM »
I don't know how many people remember the good old college days of mini-fridges that are either not cold or freeze everything, with no happy medium.  my boyfriends fridge is the former, and the lettuce goes bad extremely quickly no matter how airtight we try to make the bag.  Mine is the latter, and it seems as though it freezes everything except for ice cream.  So my question is thus: Can we freeze the veggies for Rassy, and then let them thaw before feeding them to him.  This would cut down on cost dramatically, and even allow us to provide a wider diet for him.  For example, Kale and Collard greens are sold per item, not per pound, so in order to get a cost efficent amount, more then half goes bad before he eats it all.  If I could freeze it, then it would make sense to buy more greens and he can have a better diet.  But we are also in the process of discussing whether or not to buy TNT, so maybe that will help with his limited diet?  He eats the spring mix, with five different types of lettuce (no iceberg though), so it's a bit of variety, just not what he needs.
