Advice?
« on: October 25, 2010, 07:26:19 AM »
Joe H. mentioned that I need to feed Boris and Sonya better foods.  I was feeding them baby mixed greens and romaine lettuce.  In the last four weeks or so, I slowly switched the diet around.

Currently, I am feeding them kale, dandellion and the baby mixed greens.  I feed romaine occassionally but I am considering ditching it completely as they don't seem to like it as much as the other stuff.  Each meal is different.  One day, they might just get one of the three different lettuces (kale, dandellion, mixed greens).  Some days, they get a bit of everything.  Other days, they get a mixture of two of the lettuces.  I try to make each meal different.

Is there anything else I need to do to better their diet even more?

Thanks!

Thanks!  Yeah, they HATE mustard greens.  Before I got them, that is all they were fed.  They won't touch them now if there is other food in their enclosure. The spring mix I buy has baby lettuces (red, green romaine, red, green oak leaf, red leaf, lollo rosa and tango), red and green chard, mizuana, arugula, mache, frisee, radicchio lettuces in it.

I will look for the other lettuces tomorrow when I go grocery shopping.

Thanks!

Mine love escarole.  I find it very bitter.

Making stuffed squash for Joe and I.  Gave Boris and Sonya the ends of them.  They have not discovered that yet.

I did go to the supermarket.  Bought the chicory, escrole, kate, dandellion and baby mixed greens.  I have a little bit of romaine left over.  They will get the last of that within the next week.

Here in the next week, I am roasting some butternut squash.  I may share a piece of it with them being I'm the only human who eats it around here.  Being petite, a whole squash is too much for me.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
