ceramic light fitting
« on: October 27, 2006, 10:34:47 AM »
Hello again

I am still trying to get everything right so heres another question. The ceramic light fitting for the t-rex uvb flood, does it have to be ceramic or can it be metal.

Thanks

If you're talking about the socket, it needs to be ceramic. The hood can be metal. You run the risk of fire and/or wrecking the bulb because it gets so hot, if you don't use ceramic, and T-Rex says to use only ceramic.  ;)

Ceramic.  These bulbs produce a lot of heat.  Joe suggests using a dome fixture that's rated for 250 watts.  Here are two links with two different types of fixtures.
