What's the problem?
« on: March 22, 2011, 09:40:43 AM »
Hi !

My torts are just after 4 months of hibernation - 1 week. I think it's time for mating. The problem is that my males are not so 'horny'. I mean, they are in perfect condition, hungry, extra active, but when they see females they aren't doing what they should do. How to stimulate them for breeding?

sorry for mistakes, I still learn English!

I'm not a breeder, but I would guess that you just need some patience.  If they are happy and healthy and the weather is warm, they will get horny.  lol
Tilly and Tess live with their mom in sunny Southern Oregon.  Hatched by Dan during the summer of 2008.

I agree you shouldn't need to persuade them.

Afraid I can't offer you any other advice that has not already been suggested by others, time and patience... Good luck, let us know if anything happens.

I would advise you to get your ToRts -----> some candles , play a little music , a snack for later... and a lot of privacy....

Give them some time. I'm pretty sure they know when its time to get it on.
Maybe they want to make sure they didn't wake up too early.
