 ???Ok, since I've seen my russian tortoises mate like 4-5 times, what I want to know is what are some signs of a russian tortoise that is about to have eggs?

Hi there, and welcome to the forum! To answer your question: torts are just like people in this case; each one's different. Some couples will have instant success right off the bat, while others can struggle. Just be patient. In case you haven't seen it already, here's a great page explaining the whole process of breeding Russian Torts, and how to deal with it from the first squeal (see attached pic ) to the first peek of a beak breaking through the egg. "When the female is ready to lay eggs, she will usually become very restless...pacing the perimeter of the pen (and constantly digging if kept indoors). She may stop eating for a few days to a week. Many will dig "test" nest or two."

Thanks. My female tortoise has been eating a lot and my boy tortoise would just wait for his turn. They've been digging a lot in thier terrarium, she has been hissing a lot, and she has been walking around the terrarium a lot. But I'll read on it.
