Biting
« on: March 14, 2006, 09:20:26 PM »
My Russian Tortoise, I'm not sure how old, he's about 4-5 inches, bites his legs every once and a while. I checked for mites and he seems fine. I've used Tortoise lotion and I soak him...even though he doesn't like it. He doesn't do it that often, so I was wondering if he's just itchy or something like that.
Thanks.

What is "tortoise lotion"

I wouldn't soak him in anything except plain ol water.

If they are too dry they will tend to bite at themselves.

I bought this stuff called Turtle Vita Shell and it says its for shells and dry spots. It smells just like vasaline to me, but I used it and he stopped biting.
