Hi Joyce
Some research shows that they see UVA. From personal experience I can tell you it has a positive effect on behavior.

The good news for you is all bulbs with UVB have a good amount of UVA. This includes the T-Rex Active UVHeat

Is it possible for a bulb to have just UVA?  Because i found one at petsmart that said it gives off UVA and heat for $15 (I didn't buy it yet though), but the package made no mention of UVB.  Is this good to use or not?

I was wondering where I could get one of these lights? We have no petco around here and the petsmart reptile selection is pretty lame. I have a heat basking lamp and then a regular UVB light but, Im not sure I like it. Its from zoo med. Is this light okay? Or should I invest in another one?

Try going to carolinapetsuply.com I really like the T-rex UVB active flood bulb..When I got it I noticed a big increase in my torts apetite and activity. And its an all in one bulb..If it doest get super cold where u are you wont need any other bulb.

The torts have to have UVB, and if it doesn't say uvb on the package, then it doesn't have it. It's ok to use the uva bulb as an additional heat lamp if it's too cold, like Joyce said.  ;)

I live in upstate NY so it gets pretty bad up here. Should I just add another heat (basking lamp) when I get my new T-rex one?

Yes, you can add an additional heat lamp if needed, just watch the temps so it's not too hot. I use an additional one because my tort table is long and it's colder now in the house.

I use a ceramic heat emitter instead of adding more light and Frank has really enjoyed it.  Sometimes he likes to just sit near the emitter rather than the basking bulb.  It's a really gentle warm and makes everything cozy.

Yep
The UVA bulbs have no UVB. So you would need another source of UVB.

Well then, what is the purpose of the UVA only bulbs?  It can't be just for extra heat, can it?
