I am getting ready to build him a new home my queston is, what type of plants are ok to plant in it, Oh Yes its a new indoor home, also is a small area of sand and rocks ok?
I appreciate anything you can tell me

I think an area of just sand might get too dusty for them.  They love things to climb on, i'm not sure about rocks, i guess you would have to make sure they are not rough enough to really scrape up their shell if they climb on them, make sure they are sturdy so they dont tip over when they climb on them, and depending on the height of the enclosure, make sure they arent right up against the side, because they are great escape artists.  some people buy seeds and then put them in a pot in the enclosure and whatever hangs over the tort can eat, other people just put the seeds right in the dirt and usually get them to grow.  joe sells seeds for torts on his site carolinapetsupply.com

Any plants from the edible plant list are OK
Never use sand alone. they can eat it & become impacted.
